Correspondence from Cork City Coroner

Cork City Coroner Philip Comyn has asked us to advise all members that Cork City Coroners office can only issue interim certificates as to the fact of death in the following circumstances:

  1. Where the death has been reported to the Coroner and the Coroner has directed that a coronial postmortem takes place.
  2. Where it is intended to hold an Inquest in the absence of a postmortem.

The Coroner further advises that they have no power to issue certificates in any other situation other than the above.
