Up to date court lists and court notices as received by the SLA
Court NoticesKeeping you up to date on all court notices received by the SLA 17/04/13 Dear Practitioners, It is proposed that from next Monday, 22nd April, we will start to pilot a new system where certain Circuit Criminal Courts would operate without a DAR logger. A basic lognote will be maintained by the Court Registrar. As you are aware the DAR recording is the primary record of the Court proceedings and lognotes merely assist in the preparation of a transcript where ordered by the Court or for the Court of Criminal Appeal. Following testing the Courts Service is satisfied that the very detailed lognote prepared by a DAR logger is not necessary for the preparation of a quality transcript. As the DAR recording is the primary record of the Court proceedings, all practitioners and speakers are asked to please ensure that they speak directly into the microphone. Court proceedings need to be fully recorded on DAR for the purposes of the preparation of a trial transcript. I am confident that this new system will not result in any diminution of the reliability or quality of transcripts or affect the smooth running of trials. Any feedback or comments from practitioners on the operation of the pilot system would be appreciated. Yours faithfully, Deirdre O'Mahony County Registrar.
